The Story
This is an Art Deco dinner ring at its finest. The face is a long pointed oval that runs the length of the finger from base to top knuckle, with an oval sapphire set in a bezel at the center, vivid deep blue. Straight baguette diamonds fan out from there in six directions—north, south, and the four diagonals—with close-set diamonds filling in around them and curls flanking the sapphire on either side. The shoulders pick up the same pattern down to the band. Every part of this wearable work of art is original to the early 1900s.
The cocktail party was a 1920s invention, and the dinner ring was its answer for the women attending them. The underside contains arched windows—the kind of work the period reserved for only the most exceptional rings. Across the face, the diamonds grade colorless and nearly flawless, unusual for an antique, making this ring all the more unique. All the stones are natural and earth-mined, set in 18-karat white gold. Each and every piece at Jewelry Depot is one-of-a-kind. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.
