The Story
From the Victorian era, when moonstones captured the imagination of an Aesthetic generation, comes this wearable work of art—a five-carat cabochon moonstone afloat with cool blue light, well over a hundred years old and altogether sublime in preserved condition.
The cabochon moonstone rises domed and luminous at the center, held by six tapered prongs in sterling silver above a scrolled openwork gallery in 14k yellow gold. The shoulders carry the same scrollwork forward into a knife-edge band that tapers to a smooth round at the back of the finger—the silver crown lifted clear of the gold body below. The moonstone is natural and earth-mined. Each and every piece at Jewelry Depot is one-of-a-kind. Once it's gone, it's gone forever.
A rare survival of nineteenth century hand-fabrication, kept in daily rotation rather than tucked behind glass. The moonstone's lunar sheen shifts against warm yellow gold across every angle the hand turns, morning after morning, just the way its artisanal craftsman intended.
