Identity Verification Privacy Notice
Last updated: October 8, 2026
This notice supplements the Jewelry Depot, Inc. Privacy Policy, available at https://shop.jewelrydepot.com/policies/privacy-policy, and applies to anyone we ask to verify their identity through Stripe Identity. Where this notice and the Privacy Policy differ on identity verification information, this notice controls.
For some orders, we ask the purchaser to verify their identity through Stripe Identity before we ship. Stripe collects your name, email address, phone number, address, images of your government-issued identity document, facial images (a selfie), and identification numbers, together with fraud signals and information about the devices you use. Stripe compares your facial image with the photograph on your identity document using facial recognition technology that analyzes face geometry, and then shares the information you submitted and the verification results with us. We do not receive any scan or template of your face geometry.
We use identity verification information only to confirm that you are the person placing the order and to protect you and us against fraud on orders placed with us. If we cannot verify your identity, we may cancel your order and refund your payment. We do not sell, rent, or share identity verification information, we do not use it for marketing or advertising, and we do not disclose it to anyone other than Stripe except where the law requires us to do so, such as in response to a valid subpoena, warrant, or court order.
Jewelry Depot, Inc. and Stripe are each independent controllers of this personal information. Stripe processes it in accordance with the Stripe Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy and the Stripe Identity terms, uses it to operate and improve its services, including for fraud detection, and also acts as our service provider. Stripe may submit your information to third-party service providers, including governmental authorities, to evaluate your identity, and Stripe may process your information in the United States and in other countries, including outside the country in which you live. Stripe may also ask your permission to use your information to improve its biometric verification technology; that choice is between you and Stripe.
We keep identity verification records until the return and dispute periods for the related order have ended and any fraud investigation or legal claim concerning that order has been resolved, and in all cases we permanently delete them no later than three years after your last interaction with us. Stripe retains its own copy of the information you submit, as described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
If you do not wish to complete the facial image step, or do not wish to use Stripe Identity at all, tell us and we will offer another way to verify your identity, such as a check of your identity document without a facial image or verification in person at our store.
To request access to or deletion of your identity verification information, email us at info@jewelrydepot.com or write to Jewelry Depot, Inc., 3333 North Federal Highway, Suite 1028, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306. When we receive a deletion request, we will delete the verification record that Stripe stores for us, unless the law requires us to keep it. To ask Stripe to delete its own copy, or to withdraw any permission you gave Stripe to use your information to improve its technology, contact Stripe support at https://support.stripe.com.
