The Story
Deep blue at the center, and the stones around it come alight as you turn. This blue sapphire and diamond pendant holds a half-carat oval sapphire inside a halo of round brilliant cut diamonds, with a second run of them climbing toward the chain. Everything here is in proportion, and the effect is magnificent.
AAAAA sits at the top of the colored-stone grading scale, and on a sapphire that grade is won on hue, saturation and tone. This one is half a carat of deep-sea blue, rich right out to the edge and clear enough to look into. A halo of round brilliant cut diamonds closes around it, and a second line runs up the bail. All 0.15 carats of those are F color and VVS2 clarity—colorless and nearly flawless, so the light they take in bounces around inside and comes back out the top as brilliance and as pure fire. All of it is 18k white gold, and the blue only looks deeper against it. The sapphire is natural and earth-mined, as is every diamond around it. This striking blue sapphire and diamond pendant is suspended from an 18-inch Italian Spiga wheat chain—four strands of twisted links braided for strength with the supple feel of silk.
