The Story
Green dark enough to keep its color in shadow, flecked brighter where the light travels over it. This jade pendant necklace is built on that one sensation and carries it at full strength. More than half a century old, saturated to the edge, deeply toned, and altogether sublime.
The cabochon is bezel-set in a collar of polished 14k yellow gold whose walls rise to the base of the dome and stop there. That collar is seated in the lower lobe of an open teardrop of tapering wire, which curves up around the setting and narrows to a point at the apex, where a loop joins the chain. Because the collar stands forward of the wire, the teardrop traces its outline in gold with clear space between, and this jade pendant necklace takes a raised, three-dimensional shape from any angle. At six millimeters across and domed high, the cabochon is the entire scale of this jade pendant necklace, suspended from a matching 18-inch Italian diamond-cut spiga wheat chain, faceted along its length.
