Sumptuous red fills the toe of this pavé ruby and diamond baby shoe pendant, wrapping around both sides of it. Round brilliant cut rubies cover that curve, so the color reaches you from several directions at once, and a different group carries it as you turn. Half a carat of ruby goes into it.
Every ruby here is graded AAAAA, the top of the grading scale for colored stones, and on a ruby the grade turns on hue, saturation and tone—all three saturated and even through the body of the stone. The strap above the rubies carries its own row of round brilliant cut diamonds, throwing fire over the red.
